It’s official – I’m going to Colombia in 2009! Hurrah!
I’ll once again be joining Global Encounters, doing many of the same type of projects as the last few trips – children’s ministry, family conferences, school presentations, chalk art, and possible shanty-town ministry. Our team will be working in and around Bogota in connection with local pastors and missionaries. Trip dates: February 21 – March 9.
Colombia will be a very different experience than either Peru or Argentina. Although Bogota is now considered as safe as any other South American capital city, it has a long history of unrest and violence. With an evangelical population of less than 4%, Colombians are desperately searching for peace and security. Our job – point them to the One who can heal the broken hearted and give true peace and security.
As with my Argentina trip, finances are a prayer request. One exciting note is that I recently started a new job, working about 10-15 hours per week, so that will help pay some of the cost. It’s a really exciting story about how the Lord worked that out, but I’ll have to save that for another post…
By the way, there are still spaces open for more team members…
Awesome, Amy! I’m so excited for you. It’s so neat to see how the Lord is opening up doors of opportunities for you to minister in other countries! I’ll be praying for you while you prepare, and also about finances. Where are you working? Do post that story soon!
Congratulations, Amy!
Hope preparations go well, and you have a profitable trip!
Hooray! I can’t wait to go to Colombia with you!
Sounds coooooollllll! I am going to Southeast Aisa about the same time.
